Create and Manage Positions

Step-by-step instructions: Create, fill, and delete Positions
Updated 1 day ago

Organization Administrators create Positions, arrange who reports to whom, and choose the member who fills each one. For what Positions are for, see Positions Overview.

Create a Position

  1. In the Navigation pane's Organization panel, select Positions.
  2. Press the Create Position button in the list header.
  3. In the Create Position dialog, enter a Title, and optionally a Description and the Position it Reports to.
  4. Press Create.

You can also create Positions while inviting new members: type a new Position name in the invitation's Position column.

Fill a Position or change who it reports to

  1. Select the Position in the list.
  2. On its Info tab, choose the member in Filled by, or the Position it Reports to. To fill it with a new member, choose Invite New Member To Organization.
  3. Edit the Title at the top of the detail pane, or the Description. Paste an existing job description if you have one; its formatting is kept.

Changes save as you make them. Guests can't fill a Position.

See where a Position is used

  • The Procedures tab lists the Procedures and Steps where the Position is the Default Assignee, and the Roles it is the default for.
  • The Assignments tab lists the open Assignments where the Position's member has at least one Task.

Delete a Position

  1. Select the Position and press its Actions tab.
  2. In the Disposal panel, press Delete…, then confirm with Delete.

A Position that is still the Default Assignee of a Procedure or Step can't be deleted: change those first, using the Procedures tab to find them. Positions that reported to a deleted Position become top-level.
