Screen Layout

On large displays, TaskTrain is divided into three parts: the Navigation pane on the left, the List pane in the middle, and the Details pane on the right. Press and drag on the adjustable pane Splitters to adjust pane size.

The Navigation pane contains:

  1. The User Menu, for managing your User Profile and Organization profiles.
  2. An Organization collapsible panel for each Organization you belong to, containing its menus and panels.
  3. The Inbox and Library panels inside each Organization collapsible panel.
  4. The Help Menu, accessible from the “?” at the pane bottom.
  5. The Exchange Menu, accessible from the forward caret at the pane bottom.

User Menu

The User Menu sits at the top of the Navigation pane. Press the caret to the right of your User name to update your User Profile, create a new Organization, or sign out of TaskTrain.

Organization Collapsible Panel

An Organization collapsible panel sits just below the User Menu for each Organization you belong to. Press the caret to the left of an Organization name to expand or collapse its Inbox and Library panels.

Inbox Panel

The Inbox panel groups Assignments and Comments by Organization. Open the Organization collapsible panel to access its Inbox.

Library Panel

The Library panel sits below the Inbox inside each Organization collapsible panel. The Library holds the Portfolios that contain your Procedures.

Help Menu

The Help Menu sits at the bottom of the Navigation pane. Press the “?” icon to access in-app help, the Knowledge Base, or contact Support.

Exchange Menu

The Exchange Menu sits at the bottom of the Navigation pane. It contains both sample Procedures provided by TaskTrain and Procedures shared by other users.

List Pane

The List pane displays whatever you select in the Navigation pane. Selecting a Portfolio from the Library populates the List pane with the Procedures it contains; selecting your Assignments Inbox populates it with Assignments or associated Tasks.

Details Pane

The Details pane contains actions and in-depth information related to the item selected in the List pane. For example, when Procedures are displayed in the List pane, you can create Assignments or access Procedure details using the buttons and tabs in the Details pane.

Breadcrumb navigation runs along the top of the List pane and Details pane to help you move easily between work levels and locations.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard Shortcut reminders appear on the List pane below the Procedures and Steps you’ve already entered. Use them to add or rearrange Procedures and Steps quickly:

  1. Shift+Enter: add Step
  2. Ctrl+Enter or Cmd+Enter: add Substep
  3. Ctrl+↑/Ctrl+↓ or Cmd+↑/Cmd+↓: move up or down
  4. Ctrl+←/Ctrl+→ or Cmd+←/Cmd+→: promote or demote

Responsive Layouts

TaskTrain’s default appearance on a desktop screen is a three-column layout. The interface adjusts seamlessly to tablets and smaller mobile devices, letting you focus on a single column at a time. Use the navigation icons to move between views:

  1. Hamburger icon: open the Navigation pane.
  2. Back caret: return to the previous level in the hierarchy.
  3. Down caret: see the full breadcrumb of your current location in the Portfolio hierarchy.
