Require Approval on a Step

Step-by-step instructions: Require sign-off on a Step's work
Updated 1 day ago

An Approval Step is a Step whose work must be signed off. When its Task is submitted, it waits at Pending Approval until its Approver approves it, returns it for revision, or rejects it. Portfolio Administrators and Leads may set up Approval Steps.

  1. Select the Step and press the Info tab in the detail pane.
  2. In the Defaults panel, turn on Require approval.
  3. Choose the Approver: a Role, such as Hiring Manager, or a Position, such as Director of Human Resources.

The Approver is worked out when the Task is submitted: the member staffing the Role on that Assignment, or the Position's member. If the Position is vacant or the Role is unstaffed, a Portfolio Administrator or Lead covers the approval.

Portfolio Administrators and Leads can also approve any Approval Task, as long as they are not its Assignee.

For how approvals work on an Assignment, see Approve, Return, or Reject a Task.
