Follow a Task's Guide

Step-by-step instructions: Find everything you need to do a Task
Updated 2 days ago

A Task's Guide tab gathers everything its Procedure Step's authors wrote to help you do the work: what you need, what you should produce, the tools to use, the conditions to wait for and to meet, the Step's instructions, and its Resources. An Assignment's own Guide tab shows the same for the Procedure as a whole.

  1. Select the Task in the list pane.
  2. Press the Guide tab in the detail pane.

What the Guide shows

Each section appears only when the Step has something in it.

  • Supplies: what this work needs that nothing inside it produces, such as a printed handbook. They are listed for reference; nothing is recorded when you complete the Task.
  • Deliverables: what this work should produce, such as a welcome packet.
  • Tools: the equipment, software, or systems the work is performed with.
  • Before starting: conditions the work is meant to wait for, such as another Task being approved.
  • Before completing: what should be true before the work is complete.

Before starting and Before completing are guidance only: they don't stop you from starting or completing the Task.

Below these sections are the Step's detailed instructions and its Resources: explanatory references such as documents, links, and embedded text. Press a Resource's expand button to read it full size.

Supplies, Deliverables, and Tools come from the Procedure's Materials & Tools; the two criteria sections come from its Entry & Exit Criteria.
