Relate Procedures

Step-by-step instructions: Relate Procedures that precede, follow, or are alternatives to each other
Updated 2 days ago

Related Procedures document how your Procedures fit together: which ones follow each other, which can be used instead of each other, and which are worth reading together. Portfolio Administrators and Leads may relate Procedures.

  1. Navigate to the Procedure and press the Info tab in the detail pane.
  2. Open the Related Procedures panel and press the Relate button to open the Relate a Procedure dialog.

  3. Complete the dialog:

    • Related Procedure: any Procedure in your Organization you can read, including Drafts.
    • Relationship, read from this Procedure:
      • Precedes: the other Procedure follows this one. On the other Procedure, the relationship reads Preceded by.
      • Alternative to: either Procedure serves the same purpose.
      • See also: the other Procedure is worth reading with this one.
    • Description: optionally, why the Procedures relate, such as once the contract is signed.
  4. Press Save.

Relationships are shown on both Procedures and included in exports. They document the fit only; they never start anything on their own.

Start the following Procedure automatically

For a Precedes relationship, TaskTrain can start the following Procedure when an Assignment of this one completes. Press the relationship's Actions menu and select Start Automatically… to create a Hand-off Trigger. Relationships with a Hand-off Trigger show "Starts automatically", on both Procedures. See Hand Off to the Following Procedure.

To change or delete a relationship, press its Actions menu and select Edit Relationship… or Delete Relationship…. You can change the relationship type and description, but not the Procedures it joins; to relate a different Procedure, delete the relationship and create another.
